Day 1 – Kathmandu

This post features student writing.

The weather today was SO PERFECT for the first full day in Nepal. We had a restful first night at the Sechen Guest House. Instead of the pouring rain we encountered last night, we had clear, sunny skies on our first day in Kathmandu. After orientation with Nate and Jada, we went to the Bodhanath Stupa, which is the largest one in the world. The smells were amazing as we walked around.

Then we had a DELICIOUS Nepalese lunch before going to take an art class with the extremely talented Thankga painter, Sahil Bhopal. I learned that art is really hard – you either have the talent or, you don’t.

Dinner at the Garden Kitchen was SO GOOD, the best meal yet – we had momos!

Enjoying all the adventures Kathmandu has to offer but I can’t wait to get to our service village!
